>ascertain    - investigate sth so one knows and is certainof it.
                   = He had made an ascertain before declaire the news in the public.
>refute        - things that support or strengten sth.
                   = This alliby can refute our statement in the court.
>dispute        - argument and discussion.
                         = This dispute will not come to an end if someone doesnt put an end to it.
>meager        - lacking in quality.
                     = She is meager in cooking.
>substantial    - considerable
                        = It is substantial if you want to take a holiday to visit your parents.
>penurious    - extremely poor
                      = She is penurious in intellect.

>illustrious    - very well-known, admired or respected.
                       = He is an illustrious person! How dare you treat him that way!
> notwithstanding    - without being affected by sth; in spite of sth
         = notwithstanding the difficult language, he soon grew in love with the people and the cultures.
>perplex        - to make sb feel confused or to worry sb
                    = His strange behaviour is perplexing me.
